Impact Solutions is Hiring a Senior Controls Engineer Near Cincinnati, OH

Our client is revolutionizing short-range mobility with its innovative Accelerating Walkways (AW) system, designed to seamlessly transport pedestrians through airports, venues, and cities. As a cutting-edge mobility technology company, we are on a mission to accelerate humanity forward sustainably and efficiently.
Why this role exists:
We are creating the world’s first modular Accelerating Walkway (AW) system. The Controls Engineer will play a vital role in the design and development of our clients’ next-generation AW, focusing on controls and automation. This includes utilizing Beckhoff software, managing electrical hardware, and integrating electromechanical systems, including SICK sensor software.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Proficiency in Beckhoff software for system automation and controls.
  • Design and develop electrical and control systems for AW subassemblies, integrating them seamlessly into the overall product.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure electrical and control components align with the mechanical design.
  • Integrate electromechanical systems, including sensors and controllers, ensuring seamless communication and functionality.
  • Develop and implement control algorithms for optimal AW performance.
  • Perform testing and validation of control systems, including simulation, sensor integration, and real-world testing.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to control system design, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and user manuals.
  • Collaborate with the wider engineering team to ensure the smooth integration of control systems into the AW design.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to fellow engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in Beckhoff software and Beckhoff hardware configuration.
  • Strong background in electrical hardware design and integration, especially in the context of electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with SICK sensor software and integration.
  • Solid understanding of control algorithms and automation principles.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of industry experience, with relevant experience considered.
  • Familiarity with mobility, automotive, or conveyor industries is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and software platforms quickly.
Outcomes:
  • Develop and integrate control systems that drive the efficient and safe operation of the AW.
  • Ensure seamless communication and coordination between electrical, control, and mechanical systems.
  • Contribute to the successful testing, validation, and launch of the next-generation AW.
  • Provide technical mentorship and support to the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
